2. a particular selection of food, esp. as designed or prescribed to improve a person's physical condition or to prevent or treat a disease: a diet low in sugar.

The top two definitions of ‘diet’ found in the dictionary never refer to restrictions, limitations, calories, carbs, protein, fat, or any of the popular diets we know by name: “South Beach”, “Zone”, “Atkins”, or “Fat Flush”.

What is mentioned in these definitions are the words ‘health’ and ‘disease’ and suggest that through food we can prevent disease and enhance health.

I encourage you to replace the word diet with lifestyle.  Because there is so much more than food that affects our body and our health, happiness and overall well-being.

Grocery Store Field Trip: $75/hour
No permission slip required! Take a trip down the isles of any grocery store near you and learn how to make the wisest food choices, no matter what your budget or lifestyle. Whether you tackle the aisles of Whole Foods like a ninja warrior, or you’re someone just learning about the nutritional value of foods, this service is an invaluable lesson that will carry on well into your active and vibrant old age! Popular food myths will be de-bunked (Is organic really worth it?) and you’ll learn what natural and fresh really means. By the way, the words ’low-fat’ will never be used!
